Recently the board software has been updated and there are some known bugs/failures:
- Avatars are currently not being displayed ✔ FIXED
- Tapatalk connection is currently broken ✔ FIXED
- Avatars cannot be uploaded ✔ FIXED

Please note that we will soon do some changes in WW board template design in case to get a fully mobile/desktop responsiveness board!

I've tried numerous Vittoria Corsa CX, Zipp Tangente and Schwable Ultremo HT.

I had issues with poor wear and all too easy punctures with all but the Schwables. I've never punctured with the Schwables, they're buttery smooth, predictable and for my part there is no other tubular tyre that I will buy again, period. Expensive yes, but so is having your bike off the road waiting for glue to dry ;)

Are the roads in Australia any different than anywhere else? I don't think so. There are paved roads all over the world.

@bones, mate the roads are predominantly course grade chip seal.'little fine grade or hot
Mix.
So in general yes they are different to many UK and european roads...

Also if you haven't been here then why comment? It adds no value..

Clement is just the name of a once well reputed brand of tubular tyres. Nowadays that's just an other empty marketing ploy.

I'm just a dumb American, but I thought Australia has only 6 states. Are you counting The Northern Territory and The Australian Capital Territory (but then what about poor little Jervis Bay Territory -or are you counting that as part of The Australian Capital Territory)?

You've got no idea, when I ride in the UK or Europe I feel giddy with the quality of the roads. Haven't ridden in the US but have don quite a few k's in the drivers seat
Course open chip, patchwork repairs, cobbled gutters (in Melbourne) or unfinished soft shoulders in the country. Bad roads for others are average for us.

CX's are great for racing with good grip (linear and lateral), but they cut up faster than a 14 year old with a brand new razor
Can't say with Pave - the green is a problem for me, but new bike I will try them
Sprinter Gatorskins or Competitions for my daily wheels
Repairable as well

Yea im counting ACT and NT, but you are right should have mentioned States and Territory(ies)

Also need to add that there is nothing stopping people from taking the bottle onto the road during a night out hence the glass and the car accidents where glass isnt cleaned up :evil:

You know it homie!!! In sydneys east these are the best things ever, I wouldn't ride em in QLD though as bogans like to smash glass every where nice roads but the glass every where..

And I will never run any conti tubbies ever again.. I don't enjoy the blisters on my fingers from mounting them or the sub par ride quality, $70+ tires with butyl tubes... Really? :roll:

I wanted to bump this one up given it has been a couple of years and there are a number of new tubulars out now - I'm about to get a set of tubular wheels and interested to know what others are using. I'm a big fan of Schwalbe One clinchers - anyone a fan of the tubular version downunder?. Also the New Conti GP4000 II looks interesting given its [reputedly] lower rolling resistance - always found Conti GP4000 clinchers to be good winter tires in SA - grippy enough and tough enough.

I've ridden Conti competitions previously but am biased against them - the only two accidents I've had on bikes have been on tyres with criss/cross tread patterns sliding out from under me.

PS on reading the thread RE recycling programmes I cant agree that they don't work down here - during the TDU in South Australia where we have a deposit scheme we get a lot of interstate riders and they seem impressed enough with the cleaner roads to comment on it to strangers. The only time our roads are covered in crap - glass. half eaten kebabs, vomit etc etc is the weekend and week following the Clipsal 500 V8 racing weekend in Adelaide.

Unless you can get the hand made 'pro' contis they still run very stiff.
Whole point of tubs is ride quality. If your worried about longevity or puncher protection stick too clinchers..

One alternative is Conti Sprinters ... vs Comps about exactly the same CRR but half the price

I tend to default to high-end stuff but for the money the Sprinters have a lot going for them

what is the difference between Conti Comps and GP4000s II in practical terms? - they both seem to be equal premium tyres in Conti's range - GP's are a little heavier and Comps have a slightly wider protection belt but at the end of the day... - just trying to understand what would make you choose one over the other.

RE Sprinters - they consistently get really positive reviews and people stick with them a long time it seems
