We'll be staying in Schoorl our first 2 weeks while we look for a house to rent. Then we're off to Limburg for World's. Hopefully we'll have a house to return to, otherwise it's back to a beach cottage for a while.

If any of you locals want to go out for a ride and show me around, I'll buy the beer afterward. :beerchug:

I'd be happy to oblige. What dates are you down in Limburg?

We arrive in Limburg the 13th of September under the current plan. We'll be staying in Brunssum. A very good friend of mine is the English announcer for the week so he'll be tagging along for a ride when he has some free time.

One week until we arrive. We're visiting friends and family before we depart. We look forward to meeting our new Dutch friends soon.

OK Weenies, I need a little help. My transportation from Schiphol to Schoorl has fallen through. Any suggestions for transporting a family of 4 with luggage and bicycles to Schoorl from the airport? We arrive Sunday morning...

If you have less than four bicycles: train from Schiphol to Alkmaar (change trains at Amsterdam Sloterdijk). One family member with luggage in a taxi from Alkmaar to Schoorl, rest of the family off for their first ride on Dutch soil to Schoorl.

We ended up hiring a mini-bus and a taxi for the trip, which cost nearly 300 euro. But it was quick and easy, especially since we were exhausted from the trip. We got to our destination in Schoorl at 1000 to find the town literally alive with road and mountain bikers.

I'll assemble our bikes this evening so we can start exploring tomorrow.

For now, we are staying at http://koningshof.topparken.nl/en/. Now we need to find a house to rent nearby.

Are there any mountains nearby?

HT2 - No, it's pan flat, but sometimes it feels like a mountain in Holland due to the wind.

No mountains, but the trails look like a lot of fun... and climbing the dunes looks like a real challenge. I'm used to dunes that are about 10 feet tall, but these are about 100 feet tall.
