Saw these on the 'bay. I've never seen EDGE forks with a carbon-weave visible before? (probably because I recently came over from mountain biking and I'm not that familiar with road bits :oops: )

Are these the real deal??

Also, what affect will putting a 40mm rake fork on a frame designed for 43mm do to handling?? I'm guessing quicker steering??!! Or nothing??

Not sure if it is real or not. I've seen painted gloss black edge forks for parlee, as opposed to the standard UD finish. Someone might be able to chime in about the weave.

Putting less fork rake, as in 43=> 40 should make the steering slower/ less nervous, but there are other factors like axle-to-crown height which (if my understanding is correct) can affect the wheelbase, and further alter the handling.

At the end of the day, its hard to tell how much the handling will be affected. I've ridden 45 and 43 forks and its hard to tell the difference. Decreasing from 43-40 might be more noticeable. :noidea: At any rate, if the steering changes, it will be slightly slower.

I would say it's legit. Yossixgti sells some quality used stuff on ebay. He is a power seller.
But do ask Edge you have to know what you are buying.

The 1.0 forks were UD, the 2.0 forks were woven weave, if I recall correctly.
This fork in question may be one of the very first iterations, however, prior to the black paint job...

OR

It could be a special one-off with a clear coat.

Either way, the 2.0 fork.

Vote = legit.

I've seen older Edge forks with a carbon weave. I'm guessing it's just old stock

Thanks chaps.

I was just seeing what was out there, in a sitting bored on a Saturday evening kind of way. Just thought i'd ask as I had never seen any like this, I checked out the sellers feedback and he seemed genuine.

Yes it's legit.
It's a 2.0 series fork, one of the first type they made.

I know they made some forks with the exposed weave for custom builders last year, Independent Fabrications being one of them. I can't say whether or not this particular fork is legit, but I had one that looked very similar if not identical.
