Considering going with Ti baseplate for my next fork. It shaves something like 6g from the SS one, but I wonder if I give up any front end stiffness. I'm making a move from an Easton EC90 SL (not the SLX) to an EDGE 2.0 and will presumably be adding some weight when I do, but gain some rigidity so I dont' want to spoil it with a noodly base plate.

Any thoughts?

I don't have any experience with the Ti baseplate but I can't imagine that you will even notice the difference. I can't see how the baseplate contributes or detracts from front end stiffness. It's fixed in place and shouldn't have the capacity to move, so there wouldn't be the chance for it to impart any sensation. I think the King Ti baseplate is just something they make to get some dollars off those who want the absolute lightest setup.

I ran a Ti base plate for several years without issue. On the other hand I didn't win any races because I had a Ti base plate :beerchug:

The base plate will have absolutely zero effect on stiffness. If someone switched 'em when you weren't looking, you'd never notice. If you can justify the extra cash for 6 grams, go for it.

I've been using one for years. Zero difference. Since once its installed you really don't see it so only your scale will know its there.
