Its for better braking. I used rubber bands and sticky tape to secure the disc brake caliper and rotor on as bolts and screws add too much weight. Just be careful the caliper doesnt fall off and end up in the spokes and you face plant the tarmac at 60kph. That may cause a chipped too or water melon head effect.

Finally figured out where this is. That is the Railway Hotel, Windsor in the background, correct? That bike would fit in around Windsor.
