Gang, figured you'd want to see some early photos and thoughts...

http://mikesbikeparts.blogspot.com/2010 ... anada.html

Early impressions are very positive, but have not yet had time to weigh them (sorry).
Feel free to ask any questions in this space, or directly on the blog.

Best,
Cip / Mike

They look like someone trained a 2nd grader to work with carbon...

...Yet I'm still really interested in them.

I don't disagree with Charles, but I must say that the rough finish is primarily restricted to the spoke/hub interface areas.
The rim itself is very well finished...from my experiences, I'd say the rim quality is a step UP from the Mavic CCU / LW Gen-III's that will be their primary competitors.
The valve hole molding, for example, seems very beautifully designed and cleanly executed.
I have written Madfiber to see their thoughts on the rough finishing of the spokes, particularly on the rear wheel...so far their customer service has been great, so we'll see what they say.

I'd be curious to know what the rim width is like at the brake tracks, and what the shape is like in general(rounded, v, bulge, etc.).

Agreed...my old Gen-I LW's look pretty much the same.

As for the shape, I'd say it is basically a V, with a pretty sharp trailing edge to the rim.
I'll snap some better pics tonight...I was exhausted after a long trip yesterday.

Or ADA's... However, it is about function, in my mind. It doesn't matter what it looks like if it goes and stops as well as the ADA's, I'm all for 'em!

You and I are in the firm minority on that, even here (especially here).

That said, structural irregularities usually define points of more probable failure, so there's something to be said to "function follows form" to some degree.

Thanks for the review!

And as others have said, thankfully the decals are removable....

Is the braking surface above or below the rest of the wheel?
