It is a lot, yes.
Black frames with grey and silver look boring. TEHO.

I remember his setback to be 10 cm. Not that extreme for someone his height.

Also, is it just me or does Fabian ride with about a foot of setback? Might just be that he rides a 58cm sloping geo frameset and is >6ft fall but it just seems like a TON.

His seat height is short for his height. 785 for a rider of that height is pretty low, most are 20mm higher. So yah, to get the same kind of leg extension his seat his further back.

He sits like a good old fashioned classics rider then.

and on the same note of fabian.... whose bike looks KING btw. i dunno how we as peasants can even critique that man's bike of all people. Dude can ride.

number two for me of 'nathan's top 2013 road pro moments" was Fabian cancellara's Flanders win.

Without Tom boonen he was probably the favorite anyways, but with all the talk of peter sagan, Fabian dispatched him and roelandts in typical seated fashion. To top it off, he spends the remainder of the races, solo, riding 53x11 . Another beautiful sight to see.

That makes sense regarding the slightly lower saddle height and amount of set back to compensate. My comment was not at all a critique on his position *he looks amazing on the bike* it was more just an observation I thought was interesting.

Also, anyone notice the Shimano Dura Ace pedals instead of Speedplay's on Fabians newest bike? Just seems strange to see his bike with them considering how long he has been on Speedplay *CSC until now*

Yes that is quite interesting, he's pretty much been the SPeedplay poster boy for how many years now?

Weren't there pics of his bike with Shimano pedals for a brief period during the off season circus a few seasons back, (maybe when Leopard first started), then straight back on Speedplay when the racing began? Or am I confusing him with someone else? :noidea:

My thinking exactly, honestly the first rider that comes to mind when I think of Speedplay's is Fabian

Speedplay probably sued him for riding with non-approved bow ties last year...

I always thought Cancellara's position sucked, hyperextended legs confirmed it for me...but who am I to say...

This guy had a beautiful position imo...

You chose the one picture where his leg is over extended to look over his shoulder. He's got probably the perfect road racing position- flat, horizontal torso under effort, stable hips, rotated pelvis. Here are some pictures to demonstrate that his leg extension is just fine under load:
