Sojasun is another casualty, the team will disband at the end of the season.

Speedvagen style. Don't see that often on a non-isp frame.

Does anyone know how such a "clarification of suspicious blood values" process works with the UCI? I mean what happens when the rider can not come up with an explanation that satisfies the UCI, do can they ban him, and for how long? I mean if they had any actually analytical findings, they would ban right away.

On top of that, if one rider gets out of such an investigation unscathed, the word will surely be spread in the peloton, and everyone else can try to pursue a similar line of argumentation.

Edit: Never mind, Inrng says he'll cover it.

2014 Giro to honour Marco Pantani

Winner will have 60% hematocrit, be on EPO, Amphetamines, and ride all climbs out of the saddle on the big ring? :noidea:

Italian cycling just impressed everyone on Sunday. Now they make themselves look stupid.

...and don't forget about blowing oneself away with a nice cocaine OD in a hotel room somewhere. A truly great role model for all future Italian sportsmen.

Gonna file this one in the what were they thinking category.

I still prefer the look of Julien T's - whatever it is! Image

Talking from personal experience? Perhaps you can tell me about any of the riders in the 60's who weren't on amphetamines. I can't think of many that were not charged or implicated in some way.

Amphetamines speed up metabolism and raise body temperature. No idea what % of riders in the 1960s used them.

Nearly all of them from what I was told. And then you only have to go online to see riders from that era who were caught for either phets or other drugs.

Perhaps the Tour will honour Lance in a similar way....unbelievable the Italians are doing that.

Pretty shocked by the ignorance and vitriol directed at Pantani and the Giro, especially here.

Yeh he took EPO like everyone from that generation did. Good luck finding any clean riders from around that time.

As for his drug-related death, it was tragic and he was the victim here. Can't believe people are judging the guy for this.

He was a fantastic rider who inspired many, many people and is rightly revered as an inspirational yet tragic figure.

But apparently not here, where he is an EPO coke-head. Jesus.
