The biggest problem Sagan would have is that he almost certainly won't have any teammates to help chase at the end should there be a small group close ahead. Any nobody is going to work to take him to the line.

His form this week suggests that his climbing is reasonable at the moment, though. And if he is up there, it should make for some exciting racing.

@hammertime, thank you.

Curious to see whether Nibali will be competitive...

Pretty sure he will have plenty of Cannondale riders to help.

Am I the dense one, then? How many C-dale riders is Team Slovakia fielding at Worlds?

You haven't considered that maybe riders will still work for trade team mates?

Juraj is the only other C'dale team member from Slovakia.

I had considered that... but then I considered it MUCH more likely that Euan mistook the quote tree to be referring to the Vuelta, which was the topic discussed in the posts immediately following the exchange.

No, I was entirely talking about about the Worlds. I think at this worlds you will see a lot of trade team riding.

Haha, for sure. I think there's going to be a lot of honorary Slovaks riding in Firenze.

I really hope that Thibaut Pinot can get his sh!t together and show us his class at the Vuelta. He's def my sentimental pick. The Vuelta is do often about motivation cause everyone's tired, he's got some skeletons to bust up!

I know that often riders from the 'smaller' nations have often ridden in support of their trade team paymasters. Does it often happen with riders from the big nations being selected and then riding for their trade team?

I don't see anyone on the Cannondale roster than might be riding the worlds and is both good enough to be there with 2 laps to go, and not riding for Italy.
