Pozzato rode a legend badged as focus whilst at katusha. Marco bertoletti builds lovely frames. I have an alu bertoletti about 1/20th cost of a carbon legend!

Love Lemond interviews. He's all over the map when he answers a question. All these different ideas popping into his head, half finished sentences only to be overtaken by another half finished thought only to arrive at the point a minute or two later. He does eventually get his point across but it seems like he's jumping through hoops to do it.

And all great competitors do it: give great credit to the best guy in the sport they beat. Only to indirectly give praise to themselves.

Leaving aside the logistical challenges (perhaps AMO is now trying to see if it can work them out), it would make the race for the maillot jaune more interesting. I don't like the ceremonial last stage - it's supposed to be a race, so race all the way to the finish. Save the celebrating for after the race, not during (maillot jaune wearer drinking champagne while riding at 25 kph BS). Other than the green jersey and sprint bragging rights competition, the most recent time that the final stage of the TdF was interesting was 1989, with the exciting time trial finish.

Edit: ASO. Not sure what AMO is, but maybe they're looking into it too.

I completely agree with Hammertime.

That 1989 tour was the moment that absolutely cemented my love of the sport (it helped that I had met Lemond the year prior).


I think the finish atop d'Huez sounds like a fantastic idea... maybe impossible to pull off logistically, but I'd love to see it!

What about Hesjedals win at the tour of Italy this year similar scenario.

According to Lemond it was Guimard who advised Fignon not to go aero.
He coached both of them at some point.
So it wasn't Fignons mistake.

Giro won't end in Milan for 2013. I have no idea how large the closing city is (someone who is Italian should inform me/us) - but it seems at the surface that taking it away from Milan will avoid a 'parade' closing stage.

isn't he ADHD or something? illnesses apart, kinda reminds me of granpa Simpson's story-telling..

regarding final stages - i think everyone who witnessed a Paris stage of the Tour by himself admitts it's a race like no other. we've got 20 stages for nothing but racing, why not leave some room for fun and celebration, even if sometimes it does seem a bit quirky

Believe he has ADD, I think it was mentioned in the interview which would quite logically explain his "style"
