I saw this too, and a pointless way to guesstimate at his FTP.

I threw it in there so that it would set the zones (even though they would not be correct) and illustrate how the course design did not permit really settling in threshold for any decent amount of time. In fact, the profile more closely resembles a crit than a road race. Which, when you take in to account the vert that also needs to be gotten over, is certainly what makes it so brutal.

For power experts out there it's a 'pointless' figure (and I did try to glean a more accurate FTP, without a great deal of success), however still served a bit of a purpose.
