I know, I can hope though, that's free for me.

“I was very, very — I wanted to win today. Winning is always very, very important for me. I won this race once. It’s important for me to win another one. I was very very motivated today,”

I do smell the sentiment I was talking about earlier when I hear comments like this. I hear 'I was part of the program before, but I wanted to show myself and everyone else I'm the real thing.'

I just watched the finish of F-W again. It seems Valverde's gap at the finish over K and M was about the same as it had been at the start of the steep climbing. K & M had to dig to get to the front while Valverde could ride tempo being already there. Then K found himself at the front itself, and rather than get swarmed, he went hard to keep a gap. Valverde rode perfectly, however, staying right there at the front without actually attacking until he had just enough steep left, then bam.

People ask Kwiatowski if he went too early, but if you've got a gap off the front with a few hundred meters left, it's hard to get too tactical at that point. And if you have to move up from a few rows back, you've got to grab the gaps you can find. He got to the front amidst chaos, then just went with that.

I remember not so long ago the Eurosport announcers were expressing shock there was still a sizable group going into the last climb at Fleche-Wallone, and now it's expected year-after-year. It's the same pattern as Milan-San Remo. It's crazy on such a narrow climb.

On Horner... he was doing fine. He started late because of contract, then he had a small injury, then he got slammed.

Valverde did seem to measure his effort perfectly which seems to always be the key to Fleche.

These guys measured too, just a different level, still one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen...

Yeah....I would kill for legs like that. My wife would hate them, but who cares at this point!

Froome's legs look strange. He does not have much calf muscle if any. You usually only see that much vascularity from cut body builders.
Very steroid like.

But Kelly got muscles too...
I have (=not have) calf muscles similar to Froome, also see the blood pipes, but obviously not this much.
Oh, and my FTP is also a bit lower. Just a bit, really.

Froome has the legs of a marathoner or long distance runner. He doesn't need a lot of muscle for his style of riding.
