Stiffer wheels can often feel faster. LWs are pretty damn stiff and much stiffer than Zipps or Enves (with DT Swiss hubs).
I think guessing who it is is part of the fun.

If you are really curious, just make a guess on your own and congratulate yourself without bragging about it online.
Nothing he has said is really new knowledge. I guess the allure is thinking he is a pro, but it could be made up.
To those who do not think it is Tanner who do you think it is?
Koen de Kort.
Get a bicycle. You will certainly not regret it, if you live.

Denial can be perceived as confirmation as well.
Just kidding. KdK or Renshaw would've been my picks. But in fact TSP can also be a selection of peloton gossip coming from multiple sources.

It reads like the way Richie Porte talks.

I figured out who it was after this post.....
There are two clues in the article. The first is time off catching up with mates, the second is the mention of the wheels.
It's Greg Henderson, recently out due to injury and long build back up here in Aussie and NZ.
Second owns and still races Lightweights when able to (Previous year's NZ champs he was on them).

Who said it even had to be an Aussie?

I remember reading on their blog that the whole segment get re-written once or twice to better conceal the identity of the Pro. Otherwise it would be pretty easy to figure out who it is.

The guessing game is definitely part of the brilliance of the column. Wade is doing a lot of things right with the website. A clean format that is so much more enjoyable to look at than VN/CN. The new results board on the homepage is really the best I've seen. Will be interesting to see how he balances advertising income and maintaining the aesthetic as it develops. Same goes for Peloton's site. An excellent selection of high res photos to go with the race results. Cyclingnews and velonews should take note of the fact that these new guys are actually curating their race coverage.

Its actually written by Italo Calvino in the style of "Se una notte d'inverno un viaggiatore"
Complete anonymity combined with a ghost writer is a pretty good shield for the sites owners rehashing stories heard through a plethora of grapevine sources and claiming as "truth"
