The Vuelta is looking really exciting, Valverde, Quintana, Contador and Froome in the top 4 positions.

A friend of mine started this and has some pretty great people behind it (Dr. Puchowicz of veloclinic http://veloclinic.tumblr.com/ ). I think it's a step in the right direction.

Impey cleared to race after he proves contamination...
http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/impey-c ... id-postive
Impey claimed that the Probenicid entered his system through contaminated gelatine capsules that he had bought from a pharmacy, which he later put bicarbonate of soda in. The bicarbonate of soda was used to prevent the build-up of lactate acid. He told the hearing that the pharmacist who had issued him the capsules had the Probenecid on his hands from dealing with a prior customer. Till receipts proving that this was the case were apparently the defining factor in Impey being cleared.

gelatine and bicarbonate soda for lactate reduction? never heard that one before...

Bicarb supplementation has been in use for years as a means of buffering latic acidosis.

never ceases to amaze me how a guy like Betancur, who stays home for months, misses his plane and tells nobody, then claims Cyto virus, can keep a contract. How is this guy a positive influence for the team? As a teammate, would you lay out for this guy?

Probably because he wins races.

He's definitely the best rider on that team I would say even given Peraud's performance in July.

Bicarb soda has been around since the early 2000's. I remember capping baking soda in high school thinking it would make me lift stronger. I never felt that it did anything. Beta Alanine was far more effective for both lifting and short term endurance exercise.

LOL, I read a bio of a bloke from the 1920s experimenting with it.

Is it just me or is Boonen 10lbs lighter than ever before? Seems like he lost a fair bit of weight maybe in prep for worlds?

He posted an Instagram photo with a fair bit of external plumbing. Wouldn't surprise me if he has shed some weight.
