Seems surprising that Sky wouldn't have been through his passport with a fine-toothed comb before signing him.

Of course, it may all be nothing.

Apparently, the 2nd tier teams (such as Endura who he was riding for last year) do not have the bio passport. At least that's what I read in one report.

@djm: You should have gone out earlier, you can't stop watching now! I downed an espresso shot and did an hour with some hill intervals just to feel good about myself. I was really close to just putting my ass down on the couch and watch the entire broadcast.

GB should've fielded Brian Cookson in the RR.

I think Valverde needs a lecture on racing tactics. He basically threw the gold away. But what a race!

*** SPOILER ALERT ***

After stage 19 at the TdF, Costa should have been on the radar screen as a contender. I didn't pick him. But, in hindsight, he crushed everyone on a day with a similar course and weather.

My major thought after that finish:

Thank f*** Valverde didn't win.

Exactly.

By the way, this was all typical Valverde in recent years - just sit behind whomever he thinks is the strongest and do absolutely nothing... and, eventually, if that guy fails, so does Valverde.

Pity for Purito, I wanted to see him take it after he attacked those 2kms before finish.

What's up with Froome? Quits again. Edit: I do see that none of the British riders finished.

An exciting finish for sure (at least, for me it was). I'm also glad that Valv.Piti did not win, but also surprised that the Spanish could not get their act together in the final kms.

I'm also surprised that Cancellara/Sagan/Gilbert and the rest of that pack pretty much disappeared after the first Nibali/Valverde attack. I would have expected them to at least drive on and be within the helicopter images with a 1km to go, but instead it's as if they gave up completely.

edit: Froome is in it to win it 8) , out if he finds the conditions are not perfect for him? :noidea:
Just speculating. Other strong riders seemed to finish just fine.

What a tactical blunder by Valverde. Maby he was flying the Moviestar colours?

Valverde is probably out of Puritos Christmas card list.
