Froome definitely ain't no knight. EDIT- https://www.gov.uk/honours/types-of-honours-and-awards I think Cav has an MBE, Brailsford is a knight, but I'm pretty sure Froome doesn't have any honor.

What are the odds that Costa coughs up his SRM data from yesterday?

It went -
1) close up of him crying.
2) podium shot with him crying on the left .
3) Costa out sprinting to win.
4) purrito crying close up again .
5) British rider crashing into side of mountain .
6) final shot of purrito crying

I have sympathies for that guy. He has impressive palmares alright, but also lots of near misses -- the latter is probably because he's consistently up there, when things heat up!

PS: Costa is of course the perfect dark horse in hindsight. Guess he'll have more freedom at Lampre next year.

This is weird because the armchair physicists coming up with all of these VAM-based measures aren't experts either but make pretty bold statements about climbing speeds in regards to doping. I don't think his analysis is authoritative, but its interesting that reading up on the basic principles using a pub-med search and Wikipedia indicates some suspicious marks. It'd be interesting to see Ashenden or some similar expert analyze the data.
Don't take me too seriously. The only person that doesn't hate Froome.

It is a lot, lot easier to ( accurately ) estimate climbing power with some high-school physics equations than it is to do a detailed analysis of a biological passport profile!

Like you say, will be interesting to see what Ashenden or Gripper have to say, everything else is noise.

FWIW Karsten, I have experience analyzing blood counts and your friend's analysis fails to take into account a lot of physiologic and lab-related factors. It doesn't mean Horner is or isn't clean, but it won't be judged on the basis of the available h&h.

re Costa, I'm curious to see what he can do next year. I don't watch that much pro cycling, but when I have seen him in breaks, he starts missing turns, and then he makes a big attack. Given that he is no longer a dark horse, I don't see his competitors cutting him any slack. He may find the racing much tougher next year.
