KWalker wrote:Test Propionate is a steroid. It is a short acting testosterone ester that is only active in the system for 8-15 hours or thereabouts. It would be VERY advantageous for endurance athletes as it also has a low amount of sides- no water retention, very little aromatization to estrogen, and small doses wouldn't require any sort of post cycle therapy. Very common amongst bodybuilders or weightlifters close to competition. I'm not sure that it comes in a vial such as the one found as it is usually sold in ampules or larger pharmaceutical vials.

I got that, but testosterone is most useful for recovery, so I don't get why they'd take it during the race.

"Most useful" - That does not mean that it's not useful taken during activity.

So no proof?

Then not convening the kangaroo court, based off your own anecdotal experiences, would be the right thing to do.

Not saying stuff like Tram isn't used, only to see it in such a contrived vial has 'stitch up' (figuratively) written all over it.

Vial says "Test Product"
Until the contents are analyzed, all anyone is doing is making wild speculations.

"Test Prod." or "Test. Prop."? That's the key question here. I'd assumed the former until the latter was suggested here.

added: looking at the label it's definitely "test product":

All but anedoctal, and as you can see many people want to ban tramadol, if they want to ban is because no one takes it? Ok.

To think one can ride up front, on pasta and water, is kind of naive to say the least.

The vial could had a dried banana, or not, and my guess goes to an opioid painkiller, if you don't want to accept it, it's your right, mine is to have an opinion.

We do know that the vial came from an identified rider. We have no idea what is in the vial until it has been analysed. So it is all speculation until then.
We do know that riders take tramadol but I don't see it as a product that gives a rider an advantage. It is used to manage pain and that could be a problem for some riders is if they are addicted to it.

I'd been thinking that too. Would love to see another sweep by Gilbert.

That won't happen I think.

With the new circuit, the last 30km of Amstel are very easy in the bunch, wider roads, two easy climbs on the 53 ring without problem.

That is very much favouring this Gilbert, not the Omega pharmacy one that was climbing like an angel in Lombardy or Liege, but still with a very big uphill sprint when you keep the big ring.

Fleche Walonne is too steep for the normal Gilbert, and Liege has too much repetition of efforts and also the Roche aux Faucons is 2km not 700m like the Cauberg...

Interesting piece in cycling weekly about Tramadol.

Tinea- you will surely see a lot more of the doping side in Belgium. Hell, even in the US it is painfully obvious which masters racers are on something. From the racers I know that have gone and done the kermesse thing its no different

I'm not sure I'm following the doping rant against Gilbert. Even going back to 2007 he was very fast and explosive on climbs under 3km and Liege doesn't have any climbs that necessarily favor a pure climber. When he won it was pretty easy as all he had to do was outsprint the Schlecks after they did a ton of work on the last climb. Fleche is not too steep for him, but if you go back and watch the race he had absolutely perfect timing. That climb is more about timing than anything.
Don't take me too seriously. The only person that doesn't hate Froome.

If it hurts less and you push harder then the chances are that you could well be doing more harm to your injured body part. If riders are just taking pain killers to get some kind of gain then they are in danger of becoming drug addicts. Pain killers are very addictive for a lot of people.

Racers are paid to race and win NOW without regard towards their health. If a racer cannot perform, the team will get a new racer. Therefore a racer who wants to continue to employed will do what is necessary to not be marked for replacement.

Bruyneel handed a 10 year ban ::

http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/lat ... ban-120687

Interestingly, arbitration process didn't reveal anything about what when on post Team Discovery. Are we to believe that every rider was clean under his tooliage through the Radioshack // Leopard years?

Doubtful.
