Yup, sorry about that tangent, was just making a little joke. Ricco isn't even worth the bandwidth of the post.

unlucky? he's caught so often, must be the easiest job for local enforcement. Just follow him around and bust him.

No shit its in my neck of the woods too, especially in masters racing, which is probably the dirtiest form of cycling that currently exists, however, those people are actually competing in a sanctioned race with prizes which is just one small step up the ladder from a grand fondo fun ride event or friggin Strava. Its just funny to think that 40 year old Italian men can beat all the pro times on the big climbs when we sit here debating if the pros are even climbing clean.

Man, you have to feel sorry for Mr Riccò. Busted twice for doping when he never did it, and now he turns up in a remote car park in the middle of the night with 1200€ of a mates' cash and by pure coincidence it turns out there are some local EPO dealers there being busted by the rozzers.

Or something...

The Rico thing is certifiably the most depressing thing, maybe ever... except that he wasn't caught smoking crack at the same time? Could have been worse.

I love the wrong place wrong time excuse that he just happened to be there. Like Ricco is just casually hitting up McDonks for a quarter pounder meal.

Tangential side story:

When the Ricco transfusion news broke I decided to go on the internet and find some steroid forums/bodybuilding forums to figure out what they thought about the stuff that cyclists seem to find commonplace. I created accounts and then posted asking if there was any use taking EPO as a bodybuilder. The universal answer on every forums was "no that stuff is terribly, terribly dangerous and for those weirdo endurance athletes that do not care about their health". I found it funny that guys that will inject steroids that could have been made in someone's tub and take things such as DNP even have their own threshold that they will not cross, but that people such as Ricco will go to great lengths to.

I don't think so, he doesn't fit that profile (Pantani, Jimenez, etc...), his "desperation" is different and somehow common to some, not in a marginal number, "amateurs" cyclists and they share a common path:
mediocre pro or under 23, loaded to the gill to get better and still hang there, then fired for under performing or get busted at controls
starting immediately a "granfondo" career
get busted there too, despite the few/almost zero controls
getting a "non racer" license and still dope to the gills
Pretending to be -still- "someone" inside the sport, no matter the level, is their fuel (+PEDs, still, no matter the level of racing).

has anyone who watched the Tour de Romandie stage 2 today had the impression that Iglinsky pushed Kwiatkowski out of his way in the final meters, causing Kwiatek to loose Tony Martin's wheel, and forcing him to start his sprint way to early :?:

Image

IMO Omega doesn't provide Kwiatkowski with sufficient help, he's often left alone during the final kms. today, despite him being the race leader, only Martin showed up in the office... that's some poor team tactics :?

Well there are way more people who do neither in think both parties are insane who then snort cocaine or other drugs made by criminals who do not care much about the end user. Humans are pretty stupid :noidea:
