I just don't like the sport being sold short by so called 'fans' like you.

We're at a stage now where riders are being banned for contemplating doping! Is this good for the sport?

I can't have a discussion about what is good for the sport with a person who thinks things are better in other sports who 'take care of business' internally.

That is not a sport.

Yeah, mob rule is the way to go then isn't it!

The sport needs a coordinated and consistent way to deal with problems, witch hunts aren't the way to go I'm afraid.

So what if Omerta exists. Thanks to all of this openness, cycling is seen as a joke and all cyclists are seen as dopers. Every other sport involved in Puerto has kept it all in house and gone about things quietly, it's only cycling that chooses to implode. It was better in the old days when the fans only saw the sport and knew nothing about what happened behind the scenes.

Oh yes, like all those young riders dying in their sleep, or back to the days of Tommy Simpson so tweaked up he died on his bike like a parrot in rigor mortis...Pantani "murdered" with every known form of drug in his hotel room...good times.

however, being rational and reasonable in judgements doesn't include that wise-guy-factor, so much appreciated on the internet forum, does it

I'm a little surprised that unlike other forums, we aren't discussing the other major doping story about to break. Chances are by Thursday we'll hear news that makes the Schleck situation seem like a mere trifle.

Any thoughts?
