A movie about him is nearing completion. Amazing life story, but a really scary era in the US with regards to racism that led him to leave for Europe to race.

about time in my opinion. I hope the movie does well. The Major Taylor Velodrome in Indy has a nice statue as well.

The first, and arguably greatest, American cycling star. I'm proud to say I know his story well being from that part of Massachusetts. I'm ashamed to say that many who came before me treated this icon like shit. After racing in Europe, he retired in Australia and is still well-regarded there.
