Yikes, riding without fenders on a white bike in that weather? You must get covered in muck!

East Dunne Road in Morgan Hill, which leads to Henry Coe State Park at the top around 2700ft/830m. The climb starts around the residential foothills of town before descending into Anderson Lake (the visible body of water in the photo). After that it's mostly uphill with a few brief descents, a cattle guard, and then a nice 20+% kicker near the end. Avg gradient is around 8%. It is definitely one of my favorite climbs. It's perfect for repeats because there's water/restrooms/picnic areas at the top, and the traffic is very light even on weekends. Pavement is good save for a few cracked areas and blind spots, but it's nothing like Umunhum, and I can safely descend at speed. I see Specialized people riding it often (the HQ is only a few miles from the base), as well as Cal Giant (Domestic team) and Morgan Stanley (super fast masters). Compared to the bicycle traffic on other climbs like Mt. Hamilton and Highway 9, Dunne is a bit of a hidden gem.

"The General", Former Brigadier General I just happened upon yesterday while he was cruising around in his 1937 Jaguar in mint condition. I went over to ask for a pic and he says "what'd I'd do?" lol I said nothing, but that I'd just like a pic of my bike with him and his car. He said sure and said he "enjoyed sharing the road with us guys". I asked him what he figured his car was worth today and he says "about a quarter million". About the same as my bike, to me at least :)

Went for a damp, but warm (45 degrees or so) ride. Love me that spring weather. Image

PS it's a pity this subforum is accessible with password only. It's a bit of a nuisance if one only wants to have a quick look, and anyone who isn't a member stays out. I would never have joined without this seeing thread...
