On the road today...

I've been on a bit of a gps-free kick recently, so I don't have the exact route. As Dalai noted Ridgecrest Boulevard is a good reference road, as well as Panoramic Highway, Pan Toll Road, and Bolinas-Fairfax Road. You can make a loop quite easily by using Highway 1, and Mount Tamalpais is only a couple kms further up Ridgecrest if you want a bit more climbing. A lot of the area is on state/national park grounds, so there are more trails than paved roads if you want to explore the hiking and MTB trails as well.

Why I start my morning rides at 4am:
Did a bit of climbing this weekend, might not sound too unusual except where I live is pretty flat!
One of my favourites - Mt Macedon, only 450m (1485ft) but a solid 20min climb none the less; the reward is the downhill down the south side which is pretty much straight down on which you can reach speeds of >90kph I was hoping to do a third lap of my usual 30km loop, but managed to get a flat and didn't have any pitstop so called it quits (I run Tubs).
View from the summit!
War Memorial.
Today I head to Mt Buller (942m / 3108ft) and rode out from the town of Mansfield making it a 1265m (4175ft) climb, and a 95km ride in total. Legs were shot from yesterdays 2x20min FTP climbs, even the hour climbing at tempo was a huge battle.
Not much to see, was shrouded in cloud cover from about half way up the climb. The village was like a ghost town, I was about the only person there; this time of year the snow would be starting to come in but it has been unseasonably warm recently.

Training wheels?
I race on these bad boys. H+ Son on Royce hubs. 28 front, 32 rear. Sensational wheels.
And CulBaire, sounds like it's time for A grade getting close to my times.

Ha! A few more races in B Grade still to come, a bit more road racing experience is needed before I go there!
I'm hoping to be hanging onto the back of A grade by the end of the year.

Set out to do a quick ride... then remembered the Gran Fondo challenge on Strava. So yeah, 135 km ride.
Blazing sun and 32 C was no good, even worse as I had only one bottle.

The beach at the Black Sea shore.
The road along the Bosphorus(this is near the north end, near Sariyer). Only one lane each way, cars maneuvering for parking or making U-turns frequently block the road.

Is Pinarello going to redesign this road now? Less squiggly --> more aerodynamic, less road mass. Nanoparticles in road surface, etc.HammerTime2 wrote:Who designed that road? Pinarello?wojchiech wrote:I visited family this past weekend in Marin County. The riding up there is unreal.
