Only 3 bike manufauturers since 1991
Moderators: robbosmans, Moderator Team
Since 1991 only 3 bike manufacturers have won the Tour De France and 1 of them only once. I'll agree they may have been rebadged at times.
Pinarello,
Bianchi,
Trek.

Indurain - Pinarello
Riis - Pinarello
Ullrich - Pinarello
Pantani - Bianchi
Lance - Trek
Pereiro - Pinarello
Contador - Trek
Might have had a BMC in at the beginning of the week. Can't say I'm a big Lance fan before you think I'm bigging up Trek.

How many different manufacturers of EPO have won the Tour since 1991? Maybe that's more significant than the bike brand.
Perhaps Amgen should expand sponsorship from TdC to TdF. Use of any Amgen products would not only be allowed, but encouraged.

The Fact that Pinarello has been there with 4 different riders is pretty impressive. Can anyone compile all of the TDF podium winners from all of the above years? Be interesting to see all of the bikes that made podium & count those numbers. Regardless of doping....

Plus Delgado in 1988 as well.
I'd be interested to know who is the most 'Prolific Builder' as well?
Colnago built frames, Billato, Raleigh (special products) etc throw them in the hat.

Obviously it's the rider winning, not the bike.
Another obvious meaningless piece of disinformation.

I would say that the best ratio would be the ratio of money spent by bike manufacturers sponsoring versus tour's won would be very similar (adjusted for inflation)
