RTW wrote:Sorry, I don't have a published study, at hand to quote. I'll try to dig one up. I typically don't quote white papers since they're worth only as much as the marketing guys at the company think they're worth, but if your needs are really causing you to jones, let me know, and I'll search out a white paper for you.

You really can't argue 3D graph data, as shown below, white is better:

I really worried that my graph would not deliver the intended message, especially since it's plotted in frequency space.

Yours is really nice. The white hammers the point home, and the arrow leaves no doubts as to the magnitude of the facts. Nice work. That would look good in a white paper or in an Easton CNT ad.

No kitchen sink, but I do see a sinc with some pi thrown in.

Real men use scatter plots.
Important, giant graph

It's important to distil graph info down to the essential points, for easy understanding.

Like you've pointed out, though, 3D plots, really bring the message home.

One small, but important point: make sure you convey the uncertainty in your data.

I like that. I have to give a presentation in a few weeks to my research group. Can I use your plot? Can you send me the data file from which the plot is made, as well as the full res plot itself?

Here's one that should be very useful:

Yes, plot was released under the GPL

There is no attached data. Rather than deal with pesky facts I just base everything in my life off what I read on the internet.

You too? I just learned last week that the events of 9/11 were directed by Dubya, Tony Blair, Tom Cruise, and the Grays from Zeta Reticuli. Apparently when the towers fell, by design, Zeta Reticulin seed was spread all throughout the North East. People in the know are now documenting human/alien hybrids taking positions of power in industry and governmet in the North East. Coincidence? I think not.....
