I guess I can stop trying to come up with the $40million I was going to offer. It is a good fit for SRAM and gets them much closer to the full range of products they are aiming for. Hopefully they will wait a while before stifling the innovation and farming out production to Gigantex.

An interesting buy. Up until now, they've concentrated on mass-market equipment for the retail trade, supplying their groupsets for ready-made bikes. This takes them away from mass stuff like Sachs chains (they bought Sachs) and pumping out Rock Shock forks, as Zipp is very high end stuff.

If this is true I think (hope) this will be a good thing. SRAM did wonders for Rock Shox back when they acquired them. Zipp is in much better shape than Rock Shox was at the time, but SRAM injected the innovation back into Rock Shox, so I can only hope they won't stifle Zipp.

If it is true, I think that the Zipp product range will expand to be more like that of Mavic or Fulcrum. I welcome it.

They aren't Trek/Bontrager.

The asking price, I believe was well over $40M, as their annual revenues exceed that by a good deal from what I have heard (though not from Zipp).

There are two ways that things can go from here, they will either be better or worse. I don't imagine that they will stay the same. I would hope that the resources of the SRAM corporation are used to free up the constraints of the guys in Indy to allow them to pursue the myriad number of things that are on the drawing board or in discussions for development. I certainly hope that they don't come in and take the good name, try to turn it into something with incredible volume, leave the engineering in the dust, and send everything to China... Here's to hopin' my Chi-town boys do the right thing... North Side, baby...
