UAE TT - went off expecting to do 35km, realised 1.5km from the finish it was going to be 26km... Pretty standard stuff for racing out here but at least this time the local riders were as surprised as us. Nice to be close to some of the guys doing the Dubai tour this week.

Only the 3rd TT i've done on this bike, still some fine-tuning to do on the position.

Note: Really need to change that tub at the back...

Last year's skinsuit. This year's will be black and red so should match the frame. Only problem is that the kit says "GIANT" all over it...

On the mountain bike Friday night, during a local 3hr series... Didn't do as well as I had hoped only placing 31st? of 50 odd in A Grade; the furious start caught me out a little (6hr / 8hr / XCM are my preferred events). Not happy with myself

I'm in the back, suffering... bad legs, lots of wind on the beach of Knokke (Bel). Beachrace with 700 other nutty's. Ended 47th in 1h45' for 48km, 13 minutes behind Kevin Van Hoovels, who raced the olympics in London, so not too shabby... ;-)

Thats looks like some major chain slack, or is it just an optical illusion or the way it's supposed to be?

That's just what happens with normal mechs at speed on rough ground. It's why clutch mechs are amazing

JamieL: if that's a borrowed bike you might find the the fork and shock were set up for someone less whippet-like and were also running 20 or 30PSI too much.

Good spot wingguy - it's my bike but it had been in the shop to be made tubeless (pretty much a requirement out here apparently). The mechanic had told me that the tires were at 65psi because of the tubeless conversion... I took that to mean that i had to run 65psi when he meant that he'd pumped them up to test the seals.
So i did the first 4 hours being bounced around the place before someone took pity on the idiot roadie and let me know that it would be easier and faster with 25psi.

Some pictures from last season(me in the green/red)

This was from one of the wettest races I've ever been in. On the last lap the temperature dropped and it started pouring down. My tire on my rear wheel was quite worn, so I chickened out in the last roundabout a few hundred meters from the finishing line. I started the sprint in last position, and cannonballed my way through. I talked with someone afterwards who had seen the sprint, and she said it looked like the others were standing still. Lesson learned? Don't race on worn tires!
