What is better than a '2-stage day'? When the second stage is a 12.5km TT!

Damn it hurt. Finished 2nd

Nice form! So close to glory, but 2nd is the best place to be. Stay hungry, tiger. (or is your mascot a lion?)

Little local granfondo, JH-rittet yesterday. In a group of forty, including several experienced fastmen, our club set up a train for a promising 15 year old of ours. Pop! There was more than a second between the kid and the next rider across the line.

bike frame is written off in my eyes. all other components and things seem ok at the moment though. Body is kinda sore but no skin lost. Guy in front of me about to do the somersault after ran into the back of me and flew 10m fwd. He broke his hip in 3 places from that landing....

71/145 finishers, 168 starters. peloton stayed together until the final climb, 6.6 miles average ~6% max ~15%. finished 5:30 down from the first group and the winner soloed a minute ahead of them. happy with my result considering it's my first year in A's, i'm a 180lb sprinter and i won the sprint from my group of 12. 78 miles in 3 hours 3 minutes

"I was riding behind a teammate on front (sitting 2nd wheel) for a long time. Anxiety causes the pack to sprint (not up the pace, but genuinely attempt to sprint from 1k out). My teammate gets swamped understandably so im surfing solo in the pack sitting probably 10-12 back. Now admittedly i wasn't going to win in this position, but i was simply riding seated 'fast' and didn't want to sprint standing. The final 250m was not fast enough for 1 line but rather a full on road blockade 6 across and layers. I was sitting about 3rd layer at this point within the 200m to go which meant "only" 2 people in front of me. Im riding on the edge of the road on the right closest to the grass on the side. It's one of those where the whole front layer is dying....not being fast, everyone behind is coming up really quick, but all 6 people on the front are just going slow. All of a sudden I see 2 people in the front row out of the saddle rubbing elbows and come together. They go down, then simultaneous to seeing this, I feel the entire weight of the person on my left leaning on me... not just a 'lets swap sun screen" lean , but he's going down.... I am now force off into the grass and as i hit the edge of grass, I get run into from behind. I am now facing the sky and do a belly flop (but on my back). I remember hitting my head (whiplash) and just flying off my bike. I stayed on the ground for 5-6 minutes just regaining my breathe. After the race i learn that about 15-20 people went down, within the last 100m. One of the two that came together in front of me had a concussion and broke his collar bone. Another dude wrecked his brand new boonen venge. Not grand tour speed, but my garmin says speed before flying off bike was around 37mph.... So i have the sweetest keirin top tube dent from my bars swinging.

it was the most scared i've been while riding a bike"

I'm the 'o face' in orange in Nathan's picture. I somehow navigated through the crash at almost full speed and came to a dead stop in the grass.

To add to Nathan's story it was a classic clusterf*ck of slow riders being too far up front and gassing. The sprint stopped and started 3 times in the last 100m. I was moving up and so was the guy next to me when I saw him start to drift across my front wheel. I tapped my brakes and he went shooting across diagonally with his head down and went into the rider on my right that was in front of Nathan. I've heard since this that the rider he hit on the right elbowed him in the face/punched him in the face when they came close but have no idea how this happened. They wobbled and went down and I went through, but their ripple took out about 8-10 people behind them. We were going close to 40 on a downhill sprint when it all took place.
Don't take me too seriously. The only person that doesn't hate Froome.
