DG should have ridden on past the CN reporter, no? Passion, adrenalin, testosterone, sprinter, mouth...
Two bikes with presumably the same bottom bracket failure points to either a faulty batch or erroneous installation, and I really cannot see what a bottom bracket can do to either rim or disc brakes.

We've seen f*ck ups at LottoNL before, for example with Keldermans Tube sliding off his wheel in a downhill. Shame tho, he was doing very good, now he got a time penalty while the second group still got back in the end.

rear disc wheel change for viviani duabi tour stage 2

16:10 (22.8km to go) foot on the ground
17:04 (22.1km to go) finished, took off
That's a garbage mechanic. I've seen Nino Schurter's take a wheel off and throw one on in 16 seconds, from foot down in the pit to riding again.
If you look at the pit lane in world cup MTB races, these wheel changes are really fast. Guess the mechanics need to train this process properly as well.

Also I think the current TA design is just bad to begin with. For instance Focus/Mavic have updated TA systems around the same axle sizes that allow you to change wheels a lot faster.

Long stems but small frames for the pros : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJALTWoFNlg

A.Blythe explains why a 150 mm stem: "the stem chose me ... no bike fit" https://youtu.be/ZJALTWoFNlg?t=59

with bikes getting more and more complicated, and less - as we say it in my neck of the wood - idiot-resistant, it's no brainer mechanical issues will become more frequent.
