I agree with wingguy, this is typical Froome. Lots of repeated high cadence attacks with everyone on his tail, an occassional glance back to see if anyone is dropped.
The 'attack' on stage 2 that forced the final selection was hilarious. Came off Elissonde's wheel with his legs going about 150rpm and it looked like he hit a speed limit because it was impossible to spin any faster.

Didn't read it yet but CN has an article with a quote from him saying "you can't replicate this in training" so it sounds like he's using the race as a real form finder before the Giro. Seems like a few others are too which is why it's been so aggressive all the time. Made for a really entertaining race so far, IMO. GC day every day.

On his interview after stage 4 Froome was sounding more like in this race it is hard training for him that he cannot do otherwise. So not really in order to win etc...

Pozzovivo, one of the few people that actually looks worse than Froome on a bike!
Ha! Spot on. He looks like someone's grandfather who's got on a bike for the first time
Sure looks better at the piano.

Froome looks good, it seems he doesn't have the pressure on his shoulders about winning this race.. (I'm sure his imminent ban would strip all titles won in that period anyway). However Pinot looks superb! I've never seen him in this form before.. I think he's also riding both the Giro and the Tour.... could it be this is the year we see a French Grand Tour winner for the first time since the mid nineties? Aru is meh as usual, why he's held in such esteem I don't know, still I do like watching him attack and the faces he pulls.
2018 Tour of the Alps is awesome!

You guys are probably right about Froome, was just something I noticed. Especially when I saw him pull like crazy on the flat while everyone was on his wheel.

I'm not sure about Pinot tho, The competition ain't easy and some of them haven't really shown anything yet. He always looks strong but ends up short. I'm curious if Dumoulin could get back into his shape. He had a bad start of the season but was smart enough to figure out why and seems more relaxed now, but he hasn't raced much so far this year. I'm looking forward to a battle between Froome and Dumoulin, even if Froome might lose his classification later on.

I disagree.
I would have looked forward to the TD - CF battle, but not in this situation. What if TD becomes second (or any other rider) and Froome gets banned (he should be!)? Than the second place rider does not get the rewards he should have had, all the media attention would go to Froome after winning and again when he gets banned.
UCI really *f##k* this up!

Not much they can do about it now. They are trapped in their own rules and you can't change rules midway in a process. They should have learned from previous cases, but the previous presidents weren't really strong personalities. Can't judge the current yet.

In this situation, for this class of substance, the ban does not need to start from the date of the test, it could instead start from the date of the ruling. So I Froome wins the Giro then gets banned, he could stay the winner of the Giro. But he would lose the Vuelta either way

I'm sure everyone involved with LA made way more money then that... including the US Gov't. This was symbolic.

Maybe the government didn't think they had a strong case?

I know, but he shouldn’t be allowed to start. He failed the test and cannot give a good reason why, so he should still be banned.
It sucks and is really bad for cycling!
