@squashednuts is that out towards Little River and Akaroa? Looks like there's some awesome riding wherever it is!

I knew that canal looked familiar Image I see I'm not the only one on WW riding over there. I'll look out for your bike from now on.

3:00am departure, 50km in the sun started to rise. By this time I had already seen a Tasmanian Devil eating road kill, as they do..., A bunch of possums and rabbits not to mention a constant flow of wallabies crossing the road in front of me. One got a bit to close, but contact was avoided!
Image

The pavement ended to my surprise after 50 km and turned to gravel. I had planned the ride on ride with gps and it looked like a decent highway....
Image

I thought I would see how I go on the gravel, I had some sealant in my tool bag and a spare tubular as well.
Image

The road wasn't great but I kept hoping it would get better, it didn't.... Gravel and 20% climbs on 23c tyres will test you, not to mention trying to go down the other side and not lose your $hit.
Image

100km in and 50 km of gravel.
Image

The bike was filthy and so was I...
Image

This little dude was in bad shape as he had been run over, I was not game to help him though...
Image

At km 150 I finally saw pavement again. I had actually ridden 100km of gravel and gotten a flat, how is that even possible? My ax-lightness 24 ULT wheels and Veleflex tyres preformed impressed me once again! :D :D
Image

Back to the coast at km 240, and I turned left into a nast head wind...
Image
278km of vast nature, this was my longest ride ever, and totally solo. I am a bit sore and tired today but still glowing with a buzz from the ride.

Nice photos Squashednuts. Those Wheelworks hoops look good on the Focus too!
Nice bike... you ever take it off any sweet jumps?

Been here since the end of September and slowly settling in. The good weather is taking a fair bit of getting used to! Been exploring as muh as I can but not done much round Little River yet. Looks like I'll have to now!

Wow. You guys live in some spectacular places. It has been as cold as -32 this week. We have snow-removal parking bans in effect now. Road riding seems like long way away right now.

@smashednuts. Great place, but now my wife wants to build a steel cantilevered, Philip Johnson-homage. Thanks a lot...

Un-possible. Those roads are far to nice to be in Belgium.
