Just about had enough of the magpies this year. I cannot remember a year where I have been bombed, pecked and whatever as many times as this year. The helmet got hit 9 times in 50 minutes last week. Has it been the same for everybody in Oz?

Couple of months ago had the same thing happen. The following week the bloody magpies bombed me again in exactly the same spot, was lucky today nothing happened.

Happens in NZ too. Rumour is one caused a cyclist death a few weeks back when he was hit by one and swerved into an oncoming vehicle. Touch wood I haven’t been attacked by one yet

Yeah I was out riding with my eldest son and I got swooped but timidly then the assassin had a more vicious attack on my son. Anyway he came off hit the blacktop, damaged himself and his colnago. I carry a selfie stick in my jersey pocket for defence but it can be a weapon as well.

OMG ! Never heard of that before!
Is the colour of the helmet (like shiny) attracting them?

Tried all sorts of deterrents without luck. Helmet colour doesn't seem to be a factor. They see us as threats but if you are in a group you are safe. At the end of it it is only about 8 weeks of the year. It is only when you hear of injury or tragedy that it is more than a nuisance. They're not very braves having to attack from behind...... it seems that soon as I whip out my chrome stick and hold it in the air as a threat the leave us alone, and that is what works for me :D
