Mio Link

My Garmin chest strap, piece of garbage that it was, has finally packed in so as an alternate I looking at a Mio Link wrist strap. Showing my ignorance here but does anyone know if the Link functions ok when worn under arm warmers or long sleeved jerseys etc? Cheers.

Hi,
Used mine regularly with long sleeves (even merino wool sleeves.) Pretty sure I've used it under my Mavic winter jacket as well. I'm either linking in to a Sony smartwatch on the handlebars or to my Sony phone in my Jersey pocket. Never had a problem with it linking (once the initial pairing has been completed successfully.

Have also used a Mio without issue. The chest strap doesn't work on me as i have staples in my chest which negates the chest strap. Have also used covered by Merino wool, again without issue.

I have one also, no issues at all, even worst underwater when worn next to your multi sport watch during Triathlons

I got the 1st gen ant+ mio link and it's been great, not perfect .. it can't transmit through your body. So if you have it on the same arm that you use to get stuff out of your jersey pockets it might drop the connection to your computer.

I've been using the mio link for several years. My experience has been very positive, fewer dropouts than my chest strap and has correlated very strongly.
My only complaint is that the battery life is not great, pretty much a charger before every ride kind of deal, but I'll take that tradeoff every time for reliable data.
Based on dcrainmakers results i still don't think that any major watch manufacturer has equalled the accuracy of mio or scosche. The former because I think they have some proprietary algorithms that others don't have access to (although garmin 225 and tomtom runner cardio actually licensed mio tech at one point). The latter i think has to do with the band being located farther up the arm which swings less.
