I've just scored an ex rental f8 dogma but it has clear plastic frame protecting "helicopter tape". I want to remove it, but how? Just pull it off, pull it off close to the frame, with a heat gun? Don't want to peel all the paint off my new baby, thanks

Gentle heat gun and it lifts off. It doesn't take paint very easily; at least not on the couple frames I've removed it from. It's designed to come off without damage to finishes.

I would not use a heat gun. Too hot even on the lowest setting. You might inadvertently melt the resin or delaminate the carbon fiber. Try a hair dryer instead. Much safer and shouldn't damage the carbon fiber.

+1 my old heat gun on the lowest setting was in the 100-120 range. And that wasn't cheap (but it was 10 years ago.).
I just use my wife's retired hairdryer. That tops out at less than 60 from what i can remember.

Don't need a heat gun. Slowly peel and hair dryer only if necessary.
