They cost $160 at retail in the US.

That's a bit much to swallow for styrofoam and plastic.

The fact that helmets cost this much is insane.

Well, that seems steep, they are considerably more affordable here in the EU, even before considering the prices for some other helmets. The KASK Mojito is about half the price of my Lazer Z1 and is lighter as well. The Kask is also lighter and more affordable than the Giros I own. All three brands make exceptional head buckets and all three pass the stringent EU safety codes. The Kask is the winner for me in terms of overall pricing/weight/fit/looks.
