I get these random requests from people. My account name is anonymous and except for a few friends, I'm not anyone that is of interest to follow.

Here is the latest guy:

A spanish guy who is following 2600 people. Is it a game to follow the most people?

Last week, it was a guy from Germany who seems to be following 2300 people:

Probably because they like to get 200+ kudos from people they don't know.

Indeed. If they have 3000 "friends" on Strava they feel popular getting that much kudo's.

It would drive me crazy trying to keep up with that many on my strava feed. I'd rather ride/train than stare at my screen.

That's social media has become. :)

Some people gets their social interaction that way, and they may not talk to "real" person for days or weeks ... and I agree, they may establish their self worth with the number of follow

Hold on .. I am answering total stranger's question online ... #lol :D

I hadn't thought of them getting 200 kudos for every ride. I still can't imagine following 3000 people that I don't know and then giving any of them random kudos. Maybe all these guys with 3000 followers just give kudos back and forth to each other so they feel good?

Hey, it's the "Me" generation.*

*Although, good luck getting my mom to give up her FB.

they probably follow as much people as possible in hopes that they get followed back so that it looks like they're really popular on their profile

That is kinda creepy.
And one of the many reasons I dropped Strava.
My tolerance for alcohol is way higher than my tolerance for most people, especially internet strangers seeking personal affirmation.

Except you WW guys and gals... you're cool.
