I think the equivalent of the tennis "calendar grand slam", where you hold all the major titles in the same calendar year would indeed be very hard in the modern era. I guess if all three grand tours put some big TT and/or TTT mileage in the same year then you could see Froome currently having enough to get a lead and hold it. But that would be an unlikely scenario.

I could however see someone holding all three titles at the same time, most likely Tour/Vuelta in one year and the Giro in the following. If I were serious about historical legacy in cycling and I was in Froome's postion right now - I'd be thinking do the Giro next year even if it means missing the tour. Only my opinion though.

Almost everybody enters every grand slam every year, so there is no comparison, as in cycling it's only Hansen. :D (maybe other lesser riders too? - I don't know)

It's a bit disingenuous though, it is not impossible for me to be the next person on the moon right, but it's never going to happen. The way it comes across, CF's comments are stating the same level of impossibility, but it doesn't fit people's narratives obviously.

If I were Froome, I'd think about getting to the 5 wins club before trying the Giro before the Tour.

Also he got a flat on the front tire when the tire hit the ground after the rider was already launched forward. Clear to see on the slowmo.
That's a pinch flat, most likely on a tubular.
