Nicky Hayden passed away this morning... succumbing to the injuries he suffered last week in an accident he had while riding his bike.... so sad. It is rumored that he was wearing headphones while riding. Full police report expected in a few weeks.

I'm so sad about Nicky, but in a way grateful, know what I would want give the circumstances. Peace to the kid.

Kind of mistake we all could make, quiet country road joining a main thoroughfare. Be careful my brothers...

Any information out about what exactly happened to cause the accident?

Mortirolo a bit of a non event in the peloton, Sunweb controlled it very well.

Nice touch in the break though, Luis Leon Sanchez took the responsibility on the front for at least the last 5km, and in return Fraile and Landa let him take the Scarponi prize over the top.

Not yet. There is a rumor that he had earbuds on, but there's been tons of misinformation. He was clearly on a minor road entering a main road, there were hedges but Nicky had a stopsign. It looks like he either didn't see the car or did a roll thru like many of us do all of the time. Something to think about.

I've also heard that he was with a group of 14 other cyclists... which seems weird to me, if he was the only one involved.

Early reports said he was in a group. Later reports say he was alone.

I read the headphones comment as well. The fact that this sentence alone is supposed to suggest he brought this on himself makes me a bit livid. Does that mean every driver who gets hit while their radio is on was just asking for it?

*f##k*!

Dumoulin's got the shits at the foot of the Umbrail :unbelievable:

And now Zakarin's attacking while he's chasing back. How's that for repaying the Sunweb sportsmanship :P

I hope TD does a Bart Wellens-style kick to Zakarin when he catches up. What a piece of crap.
