His posture must greatly reduce the contact patch of the rear tire.
Commentators are always quipping about how his rear wheel jabs about.

There was a report on US news that showed the video. They claimed that the rider was indeed Rodriguez. Regardless of who the rider was, pretty much what you should expect if you descend with your hands on the hoods. :smartass:

It's probably not Rodriguez, it's a cheap bike at a triathlon race.

Yeah, because they're making the same lazy assumption. Mainstream news doesn't have a clue about anything outside the normal scope of mainstream news.

But as pointed out, you can see the type of bike being ridden after the guy climbs back onto the road, and it's at least 5 times less expensive than anything Rodriguez would be caught dead riding :P

Velonews was the first to claim it was Rodriguez but then took off the article.
Anyway back to pro talk; Sagan already tired to lead out Bennet or just trying to collect as many WT points as possible?

not sure if i can recall ewan winning a sprint going low against tier one sprint dudes. Even last year the times he did the low sprint seemed to be early season moreso (maybe)
ToB stage 8, seemed 'normal' sprint height.

the only other time was when he got cancellara'd by gaviria at tirreno

While unconventional I like, at least what I hope, is the thinking behind Ewan's sprinting position. He's a small guy and most likely can not compete purely on horsepower with the likes of Kittel et al in a 'normal' sprint position. So why not accentuate his biggest advantage, size and less air resistance. It is after all one of the reasons Cav was so successful. His power was on the low side but he made up for it by being smaller and having a very low sprint position. Hopefully Ewan can keep improving his positioning, race reading and ability to thread through the pack at the finish. I am certainly excited to see what he is capable of once he matures in the next couple of years.

Does Sagan not really using team mates to move about in the last km cost him races?
