Whoever designed the AG2R kit has foresight.

I'm sure the team car was near and had something... first aid gauze would work.

Yeah, I was thinking 'dead leaves'. Hopefully no poison ivy.

I agree with a commentator's comment: because of the ITT, it's not enough for the main GC contenders to reduce the gap, they have to gap TD by the end of the mountain stages. I think as long as TD can still hang with them (and not have to poop again during the race), he stands a very good chance of winning the Giro.

The old Matty Goss (or was it Robbie McEwen) 'grab a cap'.

Please. He hardly rode away from everyone on the final climb. Dropped Nario with his superior bike handling and out-sprinted a rider who had been in the break all stage.

No one talking about what happened to Dumoulin?
I mean of course it can happen during a GT, but on italian Rai they were mentioning that perhaps he exagereted with gels beforehand so too much sugar had a side effect....?

^I heard a snippet that it has happened to him before in the high mountains, micky, that the effort deprives his intestines of oxygen, with urgent nature calls as an unwelcome side effect.

There was a story I heard from the Giro some years back, I think it was either Brad McGee or Baden Cooke disappearing into the bushes with stomach trouble. They apparently had to use their gloves to wipe and left them at the road side for a fan to find!

It happened last year in the TDF and he then jumped in to a random camper to go to the toilet. Luckily he wasn't going for a GC there. But it doesn't say much about his form, because the day after that incident he went on to win the stage to Andorra.
On the Dutch television he said it's about intensive ride at high altitude that the oxygen only goes to his muscle's and not to his stomach or something like that. Sounds like they need to figure out a different diet on the bike as gels are harder to digest which can cause the problem.

Small sidenote for the data lovers. Altho race wise not the most interesting rider to look at, Bram Tankink posted his data of yesterday's stage on twitter: https://twitter.com/bramtankink/status/ ... 5860416512
