2018 is a good year to try the double, there is one week more for recovery and training as the tour de france starts 6 days later and the giro ends one day later.
Still I'm surprised that they won't give a chance to Poels and/or Thomas to lead the giro.

Israel throwing a fit over the use of the term Western Jerusalem. Palestinians don't want it there. Not a good start to the idea of bringing the race there, risk/reward out of whack?

Froome Giro & TdF, it'd be some feat if he actually does it, the odds must be stacked so high against him, however I suppose if 'anyone' could do it today, Froome with the full weight of Sky has the best chance at it.
I wonder how this will (or won't) affect Sky's classics season and who targets and supports at which races.. maybe we'll see Froome acting domestique supporting Kwiatkowski at Amstel Gold ?

Apologies if someone has already mentioned it, but one more week than usual between the Giro and Tour next year due to Tour delaying it's start next year on account of the football.

I doubt he'd take the risk on those small Dutch roads. And most Giro contenders skip the Ardenne classics, Dumoulin for example didn't ride the AGR (his home race) because of the Giro.

another billionnaire investing his money, the business model lives on
But unlike Tinkoff it's more than a pro team :
"Adams has also launched a cycling network in Tel Aviv — he hopes to turn Tel Aviv into the “Amsterdam of the Middle East” — and is also funding a $21 million high-performance sports institute and building the Middle East’s first Olympic velodrome, at the Olympic centre in Tel Aviv."
In 2018 it's 10 millions to RCS (euros hopefully) for having the Giro start and 2 millions for Froome to come along (?).
I guess in 2019 that will be 10 millions for recruting new riders, in 2020 they will begin to challenge Sky and in 2021 the tour de France will start in Israel (ASO may be more greedy than RCS though).

its gonna take a lot of money to turn tel aviv into amsterdam.
Been there in 2015 while living in amsterdam, and couldn't think of two further extremes in term of cycling infrastructure.

I'd feel bad for him too, but he chooses to stay there when he could go to other teams and lead.

Or he could go back at doing Classics where he wasn't that bad.
Yes there's Moscon, but one more rider at the front isn't a bad thing!

Thomas should never have tried to re-vamp himself as a GT rider. I can't remember whether it was the first or second time I saw him in Flanders but he so looked time a potential future winner.
