You're comparing a Defy (endurance model) with a TCR (allround model). I'd be more surprised if they did have the same headtube length!
Chains to the right!
So the solution for us mere mortals is a long head tube (go one framesize up) for slam and short reach handlebars for stem length. Ha!

No...
1) it's not H1 geometry, not even close.
2) It's what Trek now calls their Pro Endurance Geometry. This is the identical geometry to the old "Classics" Domane geometry developed specifically for their pros in Paris Roubaix, not to be confused with the standard Domane geometry you could get in bike shops. It was basically a geometry suitable for riding very fast over boulders in a straight line, if that's your thing, and in Paris Roubaix one doesn't really have a choice. It was designed around stability versus maneuverability, hence the lowered BB, long wheelbase and some alterations to fork rake which affected trail. Cancellera, and others, wanted to use a version of it in the Grand Tours as well. But the geometry was not so good for that. So, they created the Domane Koppenberg. The Koppenberg has H1 geometry, same as the Emonda and Madone, but with some of the Domane features such as the rear iso speed linkage, tube shapes, etc. It was made in very limited numbers to satisfy UCI requirements, and only in the sizes their pros needed.
I am going to build up a Koppenberg this week (in time for Flanders), and will create a build thread for it. I'm excited.
