I love how Sags "getting into shape" scores podiums in sprints just like that. pity he ditched the golden wheels though

Porte kicked off well too, I wonder if this might be his year? it's a shame to waste such a potential really

Steve Joughin was the original pocket rocket I think

In the final bike throw, it would seem Scott's helmet design would be slightly more aero than Sagan's Spesh helmet.

It just seems that in the last moments of a race putting a waffle iron on your head would be slower than a salad bowl.

TDU doesn't say much about form I think. Australian riders always take the wins there and might even "peak" to early for it. But last year Porte seemed to be improved as well, just bad luck with a flat in the TDF else he'd probably been on the podium.

I stand corrected - better to descend with hands on the hoods, or better yet on the tops. Perhaps there are even better ways to raise the center of gravity, decrease braking ability, and reduce steering control, I just haven't thought of them yet.

It's a good sign, but Porte's a beast at 1 week races anyway. His list of overall wins and podiums from the last 4 years or so is pretty impressive.

That said, given how many top tier riders are racing the Giro I think he has a great shot at the podium in Paris this year.

I agree, would love to see Porte challenge Froome, certainly he seemed like the only one genuinely capable of doing so in last year's TdF. However as you say he seems to be a 1-2 week stage racer, a bad day always seems to come his way, or bad luck in a crash or loss of position.

Didn't he lose the chance of a TdF podium due to that stage 2 puncture last year?

So Specialized's PR for morons scored another perfect 10. As if golden wheels weren't enough.

You'd think, for such a big fan of them and a sponsor that could probably lend him a disc wheel bike, that he'd be riding one in training.

Talking of endorsements, Luke Durbridge is really buying into Orica's chain lube device...

“the first thing Mat Hayman said when he crossed the line first in the Roubaix Velodrome was that his chain was too dry”. :beerchug:
