There is no descent.gravity wrote:I'd like Pinot to win but I'm afraid the descent isnt gonna be nice to him eventho he has overcome his fear of downhill.
Judging by the course, the amazing form Valverde has this season, the "meh" form Quintana has compared to previous seasons and also that he has a GT already on his legs while Valverde has a more fresh pair of legs, I would go to Valverde for leading the GC...it might be his (and also Movistars) sole chance of winning the tour. Let's hope for some good racing at the Tour, just like what the Giro has offered us on the third week!
Valverde's better for publicity too. Quintana's a dullard which only gets a pass when he's the best and everyone has to acquiesce to his greatness. The doping noose over Valverde doesn't really matter. Deep down anyone who understands the numbers and the ridiculousness of being able to ride your strongest w/kg at the end of a tour (oh he just rode himself into form..) will know that pretty much all the lead guys are dodgy as. Always has been the way, always will be.

I don't think that's a concern for them. Quite some time before the Giro started Movistar were saying they're trying the double because they think Nairo always gets stronger in his 2nd GT of the season. Then in the week before the start they were saying he was coming in undercooked and didn't mind not winning the Giro because Tour prep was more important.

Have to be honest that it's my first time I really watched a mountainbike race. Impressed with VD Poel, shame about his crash and hope it wasn't the same knee as last year. I'm interested in his future plans. Maybe have a throw at the mountainbike world championships before jumping to the road in a year or 2? But I'm not that known in the discipline so don't know if that is reachable.
