Sagan, like Cav was, is a breath of fresh air. A rider with personality, shocker.

He has an excellent relationship with the Sporza people for years, it's a teasing game as well.

And Renaat Schotte certainly knows what he's talking about.

This interview with van Gils still gives me goose bumps.

Sporza undoubtedly has the best cycling coverage in every aspect. I truely hope, they air "Vive le Vélo" after all stages this year, again.

What a weekend for Peter. To put on that type of show at KBK on Sunday after placing 2nd on Saturday. It would be boring if he wasn't so much fun to watch.

Those sunglasses are awful...

(Helena is Peter's mom):

Helena: „I still find it terrible. Juraj has finished his education, he has something to fall back on. I’m proud of that. But what is Peter going to do? Become a garbage man?”

She is recovered alcoholic and had to undergo liver transplantation some 3 years ago, as far as I remember from slovak news.

She also grew up at a time when education meant employment (not looking at the past with rose-colored glasses, in the Eastern socialist countries employment really was pretty much guaranteed even if the pay wasn't). I'd think that shaped those views more than her alcoholism.

It is nearly 30 years since, so everyone realised that I think. Didn't mean to degrade her, but anyway, it could shed a bit of light on splitted house and realtionship with her husband.

Just providing another perspective, maybe something not everyone would think of. I know my mother will never accept that a university diploma no longer brings social status (if it ever did really), and that quoted statement really reminded me of something she would say, down to the "garbage man" part.

Yes, that's what my mother says as well. Not uncommon! I guess some folks just define success differently than others.

If a degree were a guarantee of a high income, my wife and I would be rolling in cash. We will soon have 6 of them between us. BA, BS, MS, MA, JD, PhD.

As it stands, we'll be comfortable enough, but Mrs. Sagan's attitude sounds like something I'd see in a 1950s TV show from the US. Where Johnny using his GI Bill and going to college meant his entire family was going to be boosted in social status forever. Simply not the case anymore.
