After 4 years of mud and sealant my SRAM Rise 60 wheels needed a refresh. I could no longer turn any nipples for truing or tensioning. I ordered new spokes as listed in SRAMs service documents, which match the old spokes for length. I ordered new nipples too. However the original nipples are quite different. In trying to rebuild the wheel the nipple thread is bottoming out on the spoke thread well before getting up to tension as would happen if the spokes were too long (which they are not). That leads me to believe that the original nipples have the thread set further inside the nipple with a deeper head. My options are to buy shorter spokes, easy but expensive (CX-Rays), or buy the correct nipples. Can anyone identify the nipple pictured below and/or confirm if their thread sits deeper into the nipple?
