Hi all - I'm on a quick holiday in San Francisco and would love to check out some cool little local bike shops while I'm here - any advice from locals would be appreciated...

Thanks all.

I've just come back from a holiday there and made a visit to Above Category cycles - probably the best bike shop I've ever been to. Highly recommended.

That would be Sausalito (next City north across the GGB).

There are mostly boutique style shops in SF. It really depends on what you want to see in terms of brands. As for Specialized, go to Mikes Bikes. Huge retailer.

Bespoke Cycles - http://www.bespokecyclessf.com/
North of SF I'd recommend Studio Velo in Mill Valley or Above Category in Sausalito

sfo423 - Thanks for the tip on Mikes Bikes. I am keen on the newly launched Allez Sprint X2 and hope that they have it there.

Mike's likely won't have it in stock, no one will.

Roaring Mouse usually carries specialized's latest.

My fav is American Cyclery for retro vibe.

A frined of mine went to above category (I have em on Instagram) and he says he was drooling all over the place ja. Only 10k+ bikes out of most peoples reach but it is a nice place to visit

Once in a while Above Category clears out old bikes or entire brands. You'll find some deals. They do the same for clothing. Still, it's quite a pricey shop, but its due to the selection rather than mark-up.
