I know there are a lot of guys on here doing refinish work on bike kit. I have a pair of sram red levers with some rash on the hard plastic just above the lever and on the side. What's the best method to somewhat restore it so it's smooth and not as noticeable? Would I sand it then paint or sand and buff the plastic?

I'd try fine sandpaper and then plastic or metal polishing paste. Toothpaste might also work. A dremel with a felt wheel will help.

To get the levers back to 100% you'll need to clearcoat them afterwards, but 95% might be good enough.

Just try it, I don't think you can make it worse if you start carefully.
