Yes it's the begining of the climb, my Garmin recorded 13% max but it looks more on the picture
I think it's a trail going up, the picture shows only this part (with the red arrows)
it looks quite impressive from the valley
it's a HC climb not surprisingly

hey Antoine, I was there not so long ago!
the road to col du Portet is strange, unpaved sections alternating with bad asphalt. I had fattish tires, but the downhill wasnt fun. Great views from the col to the other side though.
The lakes road is very nice too!
Looks like a great trip

Last Saturday ride, taken on the Marin Headlands looking back over San Francisco and the Golden Gate bridge. A classic place for a photo for sure.
Nicasio, CA, on a long day from downtown SF, doing a loop involving the Marshall Wall. If you ever stop there, the little market next to the church has the most amazing $0.50 maple muffins. The store owner is great and very welcoming. You know you're a long way from SF when a huge muffin is only 50 cents!
Age and treachery shall overcome youth and skill
Truly inspiring photos everyone!

Too bad you didn't have une Thomann. Then you could have zipped right up the Pyrénées as if they weren't there.

<jealous>I definitely live in the wrong country.</jealous>
As to riding: a 400km brevet this weekend. No photos, but we got nice weather (actually, amazing weather for this time of the year).

What is always amazing to me in all these photos is the disparate value of good pavement.
Some countries do their best to pave smooth, others could care less about road conditions.
And rough vs. smooth makes no real difference in car/moto/bike tire grip. (Unless someone can point to a study proving otherwise???)
