i was there riding 2 weeks ago and went to the rose bowl a few times to explore. very nice area indeed. I enjoy my time there!

Great timing. Best early August weather I can recall; 10 to 15 degrees below normal. Did you climb w/ Gus The Goat?

naw didn't get to meet up with anyone, but i did see the rose bowl crew that i've seen referenced online. I was kinda just riding around for my trip and didn't do my group ride research. Really great weather indeed! i wish i had more time to explore non-rose bowl area and head to the mountains.

Nice loops. They're probably 80% of my riding. And that Arroyo KOM...damn, swiped by a notorious Segment Hunter. Homie probably drafter a car for half the segment. Serio.

The Nichols ride? Or just ride Nichols in general? I used to live in West Hollywood so would ride Nichols pretty regularly in the mornings before work. It's almost always empty...maybe one or two cars coming up or down that early in the morning during the week. Compared to Laurel Canyon or Coldwater, it's a no brainer that time of day.

I've done the Nichols ride a handful of times. Hard ride for sure...pretty sketchy in some parts, especially descending along Mulholland as you approach Coldwater. That stretch of road is so ridiculously f***ed up that you'd be much better off on a mountain bike. As long as I'm not in a bunch through that section and have room / time to dodge the massive potholes, I'm fine.

I might be there this Sunday...depends on how I'm feeling after the Saturday ride.

^I used to do it pretty regularly a few years back. Had the KOM on the "race section" for a few months before they repaired that last section of Mulholland. Haven't been able to make it out more than a couple of times in the last year but was wondering if I'd seen you on the ride. All those LaGrange kits in your pics....

Starting to stay darker a bit longer in the morning now. Really wasn't feeling it this morning...not enough sleep and a few beers last night.

A lot of crappy, flat roads around here... but sometimes we get a sky that makes up for it, I guess.

Starting to feel like spring here. Lots of newborn lambs in the fields and the first of the magpie attacks!

Winnats Pass.

Wind was blowing straight down the hill that day. Almost going backwards.
