Yeah it's to do with that, but it takes more than a day! When I put up the next photos they were driving another batch through the middle of town and one of them laid down the biggest stream of shit right outside the steps of the bar whose wifi I was using! Cue one pissed off barmaid

Now around Lake Garda, took a tiny side road up and down from the Cavedine valley to Arco, then rode the brilliantly named Monte Velo. The cloud was settled in about half way up which made the descending a bit nervy, but it made the place look pretty.

Moody Brento behind Drena castle.

Doesn't do it justice.

Hopped over to Lombardia to ride the massive Passo Croce Domini from Lago d'Idro, with an unpaved bonus section at the top. :beerchug:

Straight onto a pretty steep 1500ft warmup climb from the lake.
Image

Short on views for a lot of the Croce climb because it follows a narrow valley but it opens up a little where it switches valleys.
Image

And a lot near the top of the road climb.
Image

Who needs a gravel bike? 25c Corsas FTW.
Image

The reward for 8km of boneshaking.
Image

After 26 miles of riding, that's a lot of height! Over 5700ft above the starting point.
Image

Time for 23 miles of down the other side.
Image

A lot of down.
Image

Some instant post ride recovery before heading back to camp. Primitive, but I swear it's better than 99% of the cardboard protein bars out there :P

Apologies for having been missing in action. New location, work and life in general have kept me very busy. Hoping to get seriously back into riding with the approaching summer in these parts.

View from the downtown Lima climb.

So, so true.

Image
No traffic at 5AM, even in Lima.

Image
Nice climb not too far from downtown, but unfortunately borders on a slum.

Loved the Monte Velo as well.

I did some kind of pre season training camp at the lago di garda. We were based in Torbole and started all our tours from there. Awesome area and the town of Torbole and Riva are also a great place. Everything in Torbole is focused on cyclists and surfers.
Kind of regretted not having the Mtb with me

I must have passed at least 15 people in total slogging their way up Monte Velo to San Barbera on mid travel full sus bikes. So the downhill track must be good!

Cool. Are you racing there?

It's 15 years since I went to Baku. The place must've changed significantly since then.

Good luck on Sunday. You'll prob still be asleep when I start. Desperately hoping I can shake this cold by the weekend
